Vladimir Milovanov, Chief Medical Officer at the Tambov Regional Oncological Clinical Dispensary also spoke to participants, underscoring that modern cancer diagnosis methods have a positive impact on the quality of life and life expectancy of patients.
The event was held with the active support and patronage of the Regional Administration. Mariella Lapochkina, Head of Healthcare Management in the region, noted, “The construction of this type of centre is, I believe, very important for Tambov Region. Here we are using highly specialised technology, allowing us to not only provide diagnosis at the early stages of malignant tumour growth, but also to control the quality and course of chemotherapy treatment. It enables us to review the situation and determine whether a patient should continue with a particular course of treatment or change to another. This is very important. Currently, we prescribe a drug and then determine subjectively whether a patient is improving or not. Computer tomography gives a much more accurate diagnosis.“
